Wild About Science: Learn About Your Digestion and How to Strengthen It
Husum Bibliotek, Copenhagen · Free
Wild About Science: Digestion and Microbiome: Wednesday 4 November 2026, 19:00–20:30, Husum Bibliotek, Copenhagen. Admission is free.
Gut researcher Alice Højer Christensen has spent 37 years studying the microbiome of the intestines - the ecosystem of bacteria, fungi and other microbes that live in the colon. At this lecture, she shares the latest knowledge from a rapidly evolving field of research.
We now know that the microbiome plays a major role in our health and wellbeing. Research shows how changes in the microbiome can affect mood, stress levels and cognitive function. Drawing on nutrition science, Alice provides practical tools for creating better balance in the gut and improving quality of life. The lecture is aimed at anyone interested in digestion and gut-friendly nutrition.
Alice Højer Christensen is a specialist in gastrointestinal diseases and researches the gut microbiome with a particular focus on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Together with Helene Weinkouff Barsøe, she has written the book "MAVERO: Your Path to Better Digestion", which will be published in January 2026.
Attendance is free - tickets are obtained through Billetto. The event takes place in the meeting room on the 2nd floor and is part of Copenhagen Public Libraries' festival "Wild About Science", held at libraries across Copenhagen Municipality in October-November with lectures on non-fiction and science for adults. All festival events can be found under Wild About Science at Copenhagen Public Libraries.
