When Reality Changes - Meet Rasmus Kragh from Alone in the Wilderness
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
Rasmus Kragh on Extreme Expeditions: Wednesday 14 October 2026, 11:00–12:30, Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus. Admission is free.
Rasmus Kragh has summited Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen, crossed Antarctica solo, and spent 63 days in the Finnish wilderness as winner and record holder of DR's Alene i Vildmarken.
On his expeditions, he has repeatedly found himself in situations where plans fell apart, information was missing, and a wrong decision could have serious consequences. In these moments, preparedness was not just about equipment and physical training, but equally about staying calm, thinking creatively, and adapting to the reality he actually faced.
In this personal and thought-provoking lecture, he takes the audience from the world's highest mountain and the endless polar wilderness to life alone in the Finnish forest. Through dramatic experiences, honest reflections, and behind-the-scenes stories, he explores how to prepare for the unexpected without believing you can control everything; how to stay calm and make good decisions under pressure and uncertainty; how to maintain humour, hope, and agency when things go wrong; and why curiosity, creativity, and adaptability can open new possibilities when the plan no longer works.
The lecture is about human preparedness in practice: you cannot control the outcome, but you can take responsibility for your preparation, your direction, and the way you meet a situation. It will be an evening of adventure, seriousness, and humour - with plenty of stories from the 63 days in Alene i Vildmarken, including ones that never made it into the broadcast.
Rasmus Kragh is a coach, mental trainer, and adventurer, and he is the first and only Dane to have summited Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen and completed a solo expedition to the South Pole. In 2026 he wins "Alene i Vildmarken". Drawing on experience from some of the world's most demanding challenges, he gives audiences insight into motivation, mental strength, and self-leadership, and shares his experiences from extreme environments to inspire businesses and individuals to shift focus from performance to meaningful action.
