Emotional Authority Labs [by SYNTHETICA]
KraftWerket, Copenhagen · Free
Emotional Authority Labs - electronic music workshop: 20 October – 17 November 2026, KraftWerket, Copenhagen. Admission is free.
Emotional Authority Labs (EAL) is a workshop series by SYNTHETICA that creates an accessible, emotionally grounded space to explore electronic music creation. Through reflection, technical exercises, and creative exploration, participants work with how personal experiences, memories, and ideas can be transformed into sound. Here, sound is not primarily viewed as a technical skill or finished product, but as a social and emotional practice - a way to translate inner narratives, experiment intuitively, and share creative processes with others.
Each session has its own theme:
[1] EMOTIONAL MAPPING & SHAPING - in the conscious and unconscious
[2] THIS IS NOT MUSIC? - synthesizing and manipulating sound
[3] STORYTELLING & SOUND POETRY - dissecting personal symbols in the fantastic
[4] INTUITIVE SOUND MAKING - ambient space with sound artist DALIN WALDOEAL
The series concludes with a live session at Jolene on November 19. Participants can choose to share sounds created during the workshops, present their own work, or simply listen. The evening wraps up with a DJ set by some excellent artists (more details to follow).
Interested participants can sign up by September 22 via the form on Instagram @synthetica.4eva. No prior experience or software knowledge is necessary. However, there are limited spots to keep the space supportive with time and attention for all participants.
EAL is free and open to everyone, but women and gender minorities are especially encouraged to sign up as part of SYNTHETICA's work to create more space for underrepresented voices in music production. This responds to the need for more inclusive and sustainable spaces within electronic music, where production environments often feel male-dominated, hierarchical, or marked by performance pressure.
Through guided exercises, collective listening, reflection, and practical introductions to music production, participants are supported in developing confidence, artistic agency, and their own relationship with sound.
