Book Launch: Cold War to Putin's Russia: Monday 9 November 2026, 16:00–18:00, CEPOS, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 0–50 kr.
On November 9th, the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the book "Bent Jensen - Behind a Cold War Researcher" is released. CEPOS celebrates with a book launch where Bent Jensen meets the book's author Brian Christensen and senior researcher Flemming Splidsboel Hansen for a conversation about the Cold War, the Soviet Union, and the traces history has left on Putin's Russia.
Brian Christensen has written the book based on Bent Jensen's account of a life devoted to research on the Soviet Union, Russia, and communism. He explores the people, archives, and events that shaped Bent as a Cold War researcher. Flemming Splidsboel Hansen, who researches Russia and Ukraine at the Danish Institute for International Studies, helps elevate the conversation from the personal to the broader perspective: what historical continuities can be traced, what has changed since the wall fell, and what does the past tell us about Putin's Russia and Europe's security situation today? There will also be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
Bent Jensen was one of CEPOS' founders, making this a special occasion to mark the publication here. The event takes place Monday, November 9, 2026, 16:00-18:00 at CEPOS, Landgreven 3, 3rd floor. A ticket costs 50 kr. and includes beverages and a light snack - seats are limited, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The book can also be purchased on the day for 295 kr., and if you buy it there, the ticket price is deducted from the book's price. Books will be ready for pickup the same day.
