Lecture - Inger Anneberg · Østerbro Bibliotek, Copenhagen

Inger Anneberg on intelligent pigs: Thursday 3 December 2026, 19:00–21:00, Østerbro Bibliotek, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 75 kr.

The phrase "dumb pigs" doesn't hold up - pigs are intelligent animals. Yet most of us encounter them only as ground meat, roasts, and chops, butchered and packaged in the supermarket's refrigerated section. In fact, far more pigs than people live in Denmark, but almost none of us have contact with the living animals.

Anthropologist and author Inger Anneberg talks about pig-farming Denmark based on her book "Hele svineriet" (The Whole Mess), where she challenges our habitual assumptions and portrays the pig as a living being long before it ends up on the dinner table.

Inger Anneberg is a journalist, anthropologist, and Ph.D. with a focus on animal welfare in agriculture. She has previously written "Tænkepausen Husdyr" and is now publishing "Hele svineriet".

The lecture at Østerbro Bibliotek is part of a two-evening series on agriculture and animal welfare, also drawing on the book "Flæsk" by Klara Trebbien Rasmussen. Information about the lecture with Klara Trebbien Rasmussen can be found elsewhere.

Price: 75 kr. per evening, or 100 kr. for a combined ticket to both evenings.
