Wheel throwing course w/ Szabina Lócki · Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen

Wheel throwing course with Szabina Lócki: 5 November – 21 January 2026, Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 3200 kr.

A practical beginner's course in wheel throwing over ten weeks. You'll receive a step-by-step introduction to working with clay on the wheel - from centering and simple cylinder forms to trimming and details like handles and spouts, as well as both closed and open forms. After a raw firing, you'll glaze your own pieces, which are fired for the final time at the last class.

The course requires no prior experience and takes place in small groups with plenty of opportunity for individual guidance. It suits complete beginners as well as those with some experience who want to improve their throwing technique. By the end of the course, you'll have learned a range of techniques and will take home your own ceramic pieces.

The instructor is Szabina Lócki, a ceramicist and teacher based in Copenhagen, originally from Hungary. She works primarily with thrown stoneware in simple, functional forms and natural surfaces, and has run her own ceramic studio since 2021. With over four years of teaching experience, she tailors her guidance to each student's pace and learning style, focusing on both technical skill and the meditative aspect of working with clay. You can see more of her work on instagram.com/szabina.locki.

The course takes place as a ceramic studio at Vesterbro Library and Cultural Centre. Participants have varying experience levels - for some it's their first time with clay on the wheel, while others have tried it before. Learning to throw takes time, and it can make sense to take the course more than once. The price covers instruction and materials, and all participants help keep the studio clean and tidy after use.
