Behind the Applause - Monologue with Lars Junggreen

Behind the Applause - monologue with Lars Junggreen: 27 November – 6 December 2026, Posthusteatret, Copenhagen. Admission is free.

Behind the Applause is Teater Mikado's new monologue production drawing on Lars Junggreen's personal life. It is not a biography, but a dramatized narrative freely inspired by his experiences as an artist and gay man.

The production spans from the silence and secret love affairs of the 1960s to a society where visibility, rights, and freedom gradually shift in meaning. Along the way we encounter love in many forms: first love, hidden relationships, those that left their mark, and those that faded away. Illness, loss, and fear also find their place in the story.

Throughout it all, theatre stands as a refuge, and the stage itself becomes a lifelong love. The protagonist looks back on his choices, the people he has met, and what lies behind the spotlight. Behind the Applause is about love, identity, and life choices - and about finding one's place in a world that changes around you.
