Lecture: Janne Jakobsen & the World of Crime Fiction

This lecture is part of Holte Library's 'Local Storytellers' series, where residents of Rudersdal share knowledge about subjects they know deeply. This time it's crime writer Janne Jakobsen, creator of the series featuring two female detectives, Ravn and Glente - a series that has been highlighted as a crime gem on the Danish morning show Go' morgen Danmark.

Janne will discuss her debut novel 'Kvalt', where the investigation of a teenage girl's murder leads into a raw prison environment, and her current work 'Når bjørnen vågner', which explores what it does to people to be stereotyped and put in a box. She will also discuss the dynamic between the sharp-edged My Ravn and the more rule-abiding, ambitious Bolette Glente, and how the series' characters came to life.

Janne will also share her research process, which spans from forensic pathologists and police officers to children of the incarcerated and reality TV participants, and how real events find their way directly into her stories.
