Agnes Henningsen was born on 18 November 1868 at Skovsbo near Ullerslev and is considered one of the most significant female authors in Danish literary history. She is perhaps best known for her advocacy of sexual freedom, but her authorship also possesses independent literary qualities worthy of attention. As the only woman besides Karen Blixen, she was a member of the Danish Academy from its founding in 1960. She died in 1962 at the age of 93.

This event centres on her memoirs - eight volumes published between 1941 and 1955: Let Gang paa Jorden (1941), Letsindighedens Gave (1943), Byen erobret (1945), Kærlighedssynder (1947), Dødsfjende-Hjertenskær (1949), Jeg er Levemand (1951), Den rige Fugl (1953) and Skygger over Vejen (1955). Together they form a brutally honest self-portrait that interweaves Danish and women's history.

The event takes place at Ullerslev Library. Places are limited, so registration is required - book your ticket via the ticket button, by phone 63 33 70 75, or at your local library.
