Brazilian singer Rosàlia De Souza performs with Quarteto 55º, a group that brings together Brazilian, North American, and Scandinavian musical traditions. Rosàlia is joined by pianist and composer Peter Rosendal, drummer Jonas Johansen, and bassist Graig Earle.

The repertoire consists of original compositions by the musicians with lyrics by Rosàlia, drawing on elements from all three musical worlds. The band has developed a sound marked by life energy and musical abundance.

Rosàlia de Souza is considered one of today's most exciting interpreters of samba, bossa nova, and the Brazilian musical tradition. In her voice and performance you can hear Rio de Janeiro in the 1960s - the city where she was born - but with modern energy and her own expression. She has worked with Marcos Valle, Toco, and Roberto Menescal and has released 13 albums under her own name.

Rosàlia travels the world. 55º refers to Copenhagen's latitude, where the group originated. Jonas Johansen has been a fixture on the Danish jazz scene for decades and is also an expert in Brazilian music. Peter Rosendal blends folk, world music, and jazz in his own way and has both recorded in Brazil and lived there for extended periods. Graig Earle is known for solid and virtuoso bass playing with a warm tone and rhythmic abundance.
