Calling All Reading Groups: New Ways into the Classics

Librarian and literature historian Anders T. K. Ølholm presents ideas on how to read the classics today and how they can be incorporated into reading circles' shared work with texts. He challenges conventional views of classical literature and shows new ways to open up the texts: what characterizes the works we call classics, and why are they still worth reading?

The event is a prelude to a series of meetings that reading circles can subsequently book directly with Anders. Here he offers recommendations and reading suggestions based on themes such as love, Nordic classics, gothic narratives, short classics, or overlooked works. The programme is aimed at reading circles already engaged with the classics, as well as those seeking inspiration to get started.

Before the event, you can pre-order cake from Café Kjukken: a slice of cake and a cup of coffee of your choice costs 70 kr. and is collected from the café before the start. The offer requires a valid ticket and applies only on Tuesday, 1 September 2026 - orders must be placed by 30 August 2026.
