Writing Workshop: Historical Fiction

This workshop explores historical fiction: how do you move from sources, images, and historical figures to scenes, conflicts, and characters on the page? Drawing on his own novels about Louis Pio and Emil Aarestrup, the instructor guides participants through practical exercises in writing "between the gaps" in history and transforming research into literary narrative.

The instructor is Kristian Himmelstrup, author of the biography of J.P. Jacobsen, the novel "Dinosaurens sidste tango", and most recently "Pio".

The workshop is for adults and lasts two hours. Participation is free but requires registration on Billetto. No computers are provided, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen - desk space is very limited, and you will likely need to work with materials in your lap. There is a coffee machine in the library, but no other refreshments, so bring your own drinks.

The workshop takes place in the Othello room at Christianshavns Bibliotek. From the entrance, follow the wall on your right through the library space and turn at the first corner - Othello is a side room along the right wall.
