Loren Stillman (US) & Odense Jazz Orchestra

The album 'Odense Jazz Orchestra meets Loren Stillman' was released in January, featuring music written by Stillman and arranged by Kasper Tagel, who plays double bass in the orchestra. This concert at Sønderborghus is one of three planned performances presenting the material live.

The release has received praise both domestically and in European music media. Critics have called it "big-band music as living art - personal yet panoramic, rooted in tradition but open to the world. A deeply rewarding listen, and quite simply one of the most accomplished large-ensemble jazz releases you're likely to hear in the year ahead." Danish reviewers note: "Loren Stillman's finely crafted musical language combined with the band's expansive and innovative expression creates something truly excellent."

Stillman has collaborated with Paul Morian, Charlie Haden, Carla Bley, and John Abercrombie, and has been featured in The New York Times, Down Beat, and NPR. He previously based himself in New York's jazz scene but has since settled in Montana.
