Vin & Vinyl Special Edition: Lou Reed

Lou Reed died fifteen years ago, but his place in rock history is undisputed - from founding The Velvet Underground with John Cale in the mid-1960s to a solo career after the band's dissolution around 1970, which contained both masterpieces and missteps.

This special edition of Vin & Vinyl explores Reed's entire body of work. The evening alternates between music, concert clips, interviews, and readings of song lyrics and poetry.

Cultural mediator and librarian Andrew Cranfield hosts. He saw Reed perform live for the first time at Brixton Academy in December 1984 and has followed him closely since: "Reed manages to be raw and lyrical at the same time. In his musical universe you find both avant-garde and clear roots in the classical rock'n'roll of the 1950s - or as he himself sings: Deep down inside I got a rock'n'roll heart."

Jens Ole Pihl closes the evening with Lou Reed interpretations. Pihl has been active in Sønderborg's rhythmic music scene for over 30 years - with his own projects and in bands such as Loud Lovers and Pink Floyd Lovers - and his repertoire ranges from classical to progressive rock.
