Guy Davis (US)

Guy Davis performs solo with guitar at Sønderborghus in an intimate setting.

His career spans two Grammy nominations, shared stages with Bruce Springsteen, Chuck Berry, Don McLean, Pete Seeger, John Denver and B.B. King, performances for Queen Elizabeth II at Royal Albert Hall and twice for Queen Margrethe II, plus four appearances at Tønder Festival. Beyond music, he works as an actor, composer and educator, winning awards in all three fields.

Davis grew up in New York during the 1950s and 60s as the son of actors and civil rights activists Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. That environment deeply shaped his music, which draws on blues, folk, gospel and americana.

The evening features his own compositions and interpretations of classics, performed with fingerstyle guitar technique.
