My Child's First Words

Babies communicate actively from birth - typically it takes about a year before the first words appear. This lecture explores how language and communication develop during the first year of life, and what you as a parent can do to support that development.

The speaker, Anja Elisabeth Sand, is a music pedagogue from the conservatory and speech-language pathologist. She has taught babies and parents since 2000 and currently works as a speech-language pathologist in Gladsaxe Municipality with children aged 0-16. In addition to the lecture, she leads practical exercises: singing, voice use, and techniques for creating shared attention.

The event is free but requires advance registration due to limited capacity. The ticket is valid for one adult and one child aged 2-12 months. If you cannot attend, please cancel at hblaes@kk.dk.

The lecture takes place on the 4th floor. Prams and strollers cannot be brought upstairs, but there is pram parking on the ground floor on the red floor. "My Child's First Words" is part of Copenhagen Central Library's regular programme, where expert speakers give talks on language, motor skills, singing, reading, nutrition, sleep and rhythm.
