Writing Workshop: Language, Sense & Language Sense — Hovedbiblioteket, Copenhagen

Poetry can protest, wonder, and find new places in language - and the poetic is not confined to poetry collections. It appears in short prose, song lyrics, memoirs, drama, letters, reportage, and text messages.

This writing workshop is for you who want to experiment with language, regardless of which genre you normally work in. Through writing exercises using automatic writing, improvisation, and poetic techniques, we explore together what poetry can do and what the poetic actually is. The workshop is led by Lars Emil Foder (b. 1980), author, singer, and songwriter. He debuted in 2013 with Natatlas and has since published, among others, "Fabelagtigheder" (2018) and "Æter nr. 7: Luftigheder" (2024) as well as nos. 1-6½ in the series "Kun for idioter" (2022-). He studied philosophy and teaches lyric poetry, songwriting, and philosophy at, among others, Den Rytmiske Højskole.

The workshop is free but requires registration on Billetto. It takes place at Copenhagen Main Library, 4th floor, LIVE, and is aimed at adults. Bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen - desk space is very limited, so you will likely need to hold it in your lap. A writing board for your notepad can be borrowed. On the floor there is a water station and coffee machine; bring your own water jug or bottle. You reach the 4th floor via elevator, stairs, or escalator from the Central Hall (entrance from Krystalgade) - the stage area is to the right when you step out onto the floor.

Copenhagen Libraries holds individual two-hour writing workshops around the city each month - not a series. Questions can be directed to literature coordinator Poul-Louis: i343@kk.dk.
