Wild About Science: Christiane Vejlø on Artificial Intelligence from a Human Perspective

Artificial intelligence is already present in working life, education, art, healthcare and everyday life. But what happens to us when machines take over more of what we have so far considered uniquely human?

Futurist and media analyst Christiane Vejlø gives a lecture on what we must hold onto when we let AI in - and how we ensure that we get more from the technology than it takes from us. Drawing on her book 'Embarrassing Uncles - and Other Things We'll Need in a Future with AI', she argues that empathy, doubt, boredom, friction and mistakes are among our greatest strengths in a technological future. The lecture is about AI, but equally about people, relationships, democracy and the society we want to live in.

Vejlø is a bestselling author who since 2001 has focused particularly on technological innovation and ethical questions within AI. She has advised several governments and regularly appears as a speaker for Danish business and at conferences at home and abroad. Her books include 'Arguments for People' (2023), 'Dilemmas of Working Life - AI' (2024) and 'Embarrassing Uncles - and Other Things We'll Need in a Future with AI' (2026).

The event takes place LIVE on the Main Stage, 4th floor, Copenhagen Main Library. Free admission with ticket - seats cannot be reserved, and the view to the stage is limited from certain seats. If the event is sold out, you can join the waiting list and will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis when tickets become available. The lecture is part of Copenhagen Libraries' festival 'Wild About Science', running from October to November at libraries across Copenhagen municipality.
