Skumringstimen is held on the second Monday in November - a Nordic tradition where libraries across the Nordic region gather for events for children and adults.

Vordingborg Library has again collaborated with local author and storyteller Marianne Christensen, who will read aloud, accompanied by Per Østergaard on piano. The evening includes group singing, and the library offers coffee and cake.

This year's featured book is the Swedish novel "De vil drukne i deres mødres tårer" (They Will Drown in Their Mothers' Tears) (2018) by Johannes Anyuru. The novel is a dystopian work about what could happen to a democratic society like Sweden if democratic values are not defended. The story begins with a terrorist attack on a bookstore during a lecture by a controversial cartoonist - the attack is filmed and streamed by a young girl, who is later admitted to a forensic psychiatric clinic. There she seeks out an author and tells him she comes from a future, divided Sweden. The novel explores the consequences of mistrust and exclusion, while also addressing themes of hope, freedom, and the power of language.

Free admission with ticket.
