Author Talk with Jesper Wung-Sung

Jesper Wung-Sung discusses his novel "Sandøs Rose", published in spring 2025. The book draws on Martin A. Hansen's classic "The Liar" from 1950, but shifts the perspective: here it is Annmari - the merchant's daughter whom three men in "The Liar" admire - who steps forward as narrator and protagonist. Wung-Sung describes her as independent and curious, with a desire to live her life outside the small island community, and it is precisely this character who drove him to write the book.

Wung-Sung's authorship spans short story collections, novels, and children's and young adult books. Recently he has published "Youth Experiments" (2025) about the young H.C. Andersen and "Woman Seen from Behind" (2025) about Ida Hammershøi.
