Low blood sugar makes the body shake, the gut sends signals to the brain - yet hunger sometimes strikes as a craving, even right after eating your fill. What actually drives our appetite, and why can it be so hard to stop eating?

This conversation explores these questions while examining the marked rise in obesity in recent decades: what lies behind it, and what can knowledge about hunger and satiety contribute to preventing and treating type 2 diabetes and obesity? Weight-loss medication and the question of willpower are also on the agenda.

Doctor and researcher Nikolaj Rittig from Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, Aarhus University, and professor of epidemiology Christina C. Dahm, Aarhus University, share their perspectives. Science journalist Line Friis Frederiksen moderates.

The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds - the full programme is available on Folkeuniversitetet's website. Venue: Rampen.
