Author Lecture by Simon Fruelund: 'Pendlerne'

Simon Fruelund was born in 1966 and made his debut in 1997 with the short story collection Mælk. Since then, he has published Planer for sommeren (stories and more) and the novels Borgerligt tusmørke, Verden og Varvara, Panamericana, and Pendlerne. His books have been translated into Italian, English, and other languages, and he has received numerous grants, including a three-year grant from the Danish Arts Foundation, the Henri Nathansen Birthday Grant, the Otto Rung Author Grant, and the Henrik Pontoppidan Memorial Grant.

Fruelund studied at Copenhagen University and the Danish Writers' School. From 1997 to 2006, he worked as an editor at Gyldendal publishing house and now teaches at the Writers' Programme at Vallekilde Folk High School.

In the novel Pendlerne, we follow a diverse cast of characters on the morning train between Kalundborg and Østerbro. The ticket includes coffee, tea, water, and a light snack.
