From The Shadows Festival 2026 (formerly Skyggekvinder Festival) celebrates music by female composers.

OPENING CONCERT: "NEAR" Thursday 19:30, 20 August 2026. World premiere of Lil Lacy's new work "Near", written for Steinaa Trio. Storstrøm Ensemble performs Signe Lykke's new percussion concert with David Hildebrandt as soloist. The concert concludes with Clara Schumann's piano trio.

AUTHOR CONCERT: "SILENT DIALOGUE" Friday 19:30, 21 August 2026. A poetic concert experience with author Tine Høeg, where literature and music merge in an intimate and present format.

LATE NIGHT CONCERT: "DESERT SOUNDS" Friday 22:00, 21 August 2026. An atmospheric night concert with jazz-inspired sounds and music inspired by desert landscapes and Lil Lacy's music.

CHILDREN'S CONCERT: "PIPPI LONGSTOCKING" Saturday 11:00, 22 August 2026. A playful concert experience for children and families inspired by Pippi Longstocking, with Ellen Hillingsø reading from the stories. Recommended from age 3.

FROM THE SHADOWS: "AFTERGLOW" Saturday 16:00, 22 August 2026. The festival's closing concert - an echo of the festival's voices, stories and musical universe featuring Andreas Brantelid and others.

Participants include Ellen Hillingsø (actress and reader), Tine Høeg (author), Andreas Brantelid (cello), Jonas Frølund (clarinet), Ludvig Gudim (violin), Teresa La Cour (violin), Theodor Lyngstad (cello), Fredrik Schøyen Sjölin (cello), Stine Hasbirk Brandt (viola), David Munk-Nielsen (piano), Lil Lacy (composer), Signe Lykke (composer), Cecilie Strange (saxophone), David Hildebrandt (percussion), Storstrøm Ensemble, and Steinaa Trio.

From The Shadows Festival was founded by Steinaa Trio with a clear ambition: to bring female composers out of the shadows and into the light. The festival presents exclusively music written by female composers, demonstrating that their works possess artistic depth, strength and quality that stands entirely on its own merits.
