Andreas Brantelid (born 8 October 1987 in Copenhagen) is a Swedish-Danish cellist who made his solo debut at 14 with the Elgar Cello Concerto and the Royal Danish Orchestra. In 2006 he became the first Scandinavian to win the Eurovision Young Musicians competition, and the following year he took first prize at the International Paulo Cello Competition in Helsinki. He has since performed with orchestras including the London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony and Vienna Symphony, and co-directs the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival with pianist Christian Ihle Hadland. Since 2022 he has taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and plays a 1707 Stradivarius on loan from Norwegian collector Christen Sveaas.
Brantelid performs at the West Cork Chamber Music Festival in Bantry (26 June - 5 July 2026) with, among others, pianist Anna Fedorova.
Brantelid performed at Wigmore Hall in London on 7 July 2025 in a trio with violinist Johan Dalene and pianist Christian Ihle Hadland - a program with Korngold and Ravel.
The album '48 Strings' was released in 2022 with music for 1, 2, 4 and 12 cellos as a tribute to four great cellists from the beginning of the 1900s.
Since 2022, Brantelid has been teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
The recording of both Haydn cello concertos with Concerto Copenhagen under Lars Ulrik Mortensen was released in 2021 to great acclaim.
