Kimbo - Gadens Stemmer

Kimbo grew up with parents trapped in addiction and was placed in care early - first in a children's home, then with a foster family. The failures began there and followed her as a child of the system: diagnoses, a sense of being an outsider, and the first scars on her soul.

Traumas don't disappear on their own. Hers grew larger, repeated themselves, and became new ones. Violence, abuse, and constant confusion about her own identity marked her youth - and later, addiction, prostitution, and homelessness became part of everyday life, not as free choices but as desperate survival strategies when old wounds reopened. At 18, she developed her own addiction - a way to feel connected to her biological family, for now she was an addict like them.

In her appearance on Voices from the Street, Kimbo speaks raw and honestly about how family failure can start a vicious cycle where traumas breed new traumas - but also about the struggle to hold on, find her identity in the midst of chaos, and begin to take her life back.
