Closing Concert Frederiksberg Festspil 2026
The closing concert of Frederiksberg Festspil 2026 brings together a selection of the festival's artists in new configurations. The programme spans from Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms to Astor Piazzolla's tangos.
The concert opens with a work by Clara Schumann, with Mathias Hammer exploring the life hidden within the notes. The Stenhammar Quartet then meets Katrine Gislinge and saxophonist Christian Hougård in Piazzolla's sonic landscapes - accompanied by ballet dancer Morten Eggert, who specializes in tango and brings movement to the music. The concert concludes with Brahms' Piano Quartet in G minor, opus 25 - the same work Clara Schumann performed at its premiere in 1861.
Performers: Stenhammar Quartet, Christian Hougård (saxophone), Julie Eskær (violin), Ettore Causa (viola), Katrine Gislinge (piano). Dance: Morten Eggert and Nefeli Komninou. Music commentary: Mathias Hammer.
Frederiksberg Festspil is a 4-day festival featuring jazz, classical music, literature, theatre and dance, held 10-13 September 2026. For more information, visit Frederiksbergfestspil.dk.
