Asser Amdisen. Lecture 'Danish History in 1.5 Hours'

Historian, author and P1 host Asser Amdisen takes us through Danish history in ninety minutes - fast-paced and provocative, from the first arrowheads in Holstein 12,000 years ago to the present day. Along the way there is room for anecdotes and curious stories from the past, not just dates and medieval spellings.

The lecture is based on his book 'An Extraordinary and Concise History of Denmark - from the beginning to recently', first published in 2017 and since released in several editions. As an audiobook it has been a bestseller. Amdisen has also published numerous other books and appeared on television and radio in many different contexts.

His point is that history is about understanding where we come from - and thereby having the tools to understand the present and shape the future. As he himself says: "History is never boring, but sometimes historians are."
