A Plot of Your Land - Choral Music and Field Walk at Lerbjerggård
Lerbjerggård, Andelsgaarde, Melby
The Danish song tradition is filled with nature, rural life, and the rhythm of the seasons - but how do songs about harvest and waving grain sound when you listen to them with soil under your fingernails? That is the starting point when Kammerkoret Nordglød and Andelsgaarde invite you to an afternoon of choral music and a field walk on Lerbjerggård in Melby.
The afternoon begins with a walk across Lerbjerggård's fields, where regenerative farming is the focus. Afterwards, everyone gathers in the communal hall for a concert with coffee. The musical programme features folk songs, contemporary choral works, and group singing from the Højskolesangbogen songbook. The music explores humanity's relationship with nature - from Vagn Holmboe and William Heinesen's "Høbjergning ved havet" and the harvest hymn "Du gav mig, o Herre, en lod af din jord" to a newly composed arrangement of Jeppe Aakjær's "Stille hjerte, sol går ned", written especially for Nordglød by award-winning composer Gustav Ertbølle. Along the way, Andelsgaarde shares about the new cooperative movement and ambitions for future farming.
Nordglød Kammerkor performs classical a cappella choral music in 4-8 part arrangements under conductor Karen Ertbølle Madsen, trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Lerbjerggård is an organic farm of 4 hectares cultivated according to regenerative principles, with fields, greenhouses, and a forest garden containing over 500 trees and shrubs. The farm is owned by Andelsgaarde, which acquires farms with the aim of supporting a green generational transition.
The concert takes place in an unheated space - bring a warm jacket and a blanket. Children's tickets are free but must be booked in advance due to limited capacity. Remaining tickets are sold at the door for 70 kr. for adults (over 12 years). The event is supported by the Oplysningsforbundenes Lokalforeningspulje, Dansk Oplysningsforbunds Grøn Hverdag, and Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality's Cultural Strategy Fund.
