Let's Talk About... Let's Talk About Matisse or the Symphony of Colours

Philippe Puisais presents a lecture on Henri Matisse's vibrant artistic universe. In the final years of his career, from 1941 to 1954, Matisse developed a new artistic language: forms in pure colours, painted with gouache and then cut out. These so-called papiers découpés became his way of "painting with scissors" - yet painting remained at the core of his work.

In his works, space, light and colour took on ever greater prominence and intensity, and Matisse created an entire world of forms and colours.
