Copenhagen's Taverns and Drinking Culture from the Middle Ages to Today

Copenhagen is home to many old taverns from the 18th and 19th centuries, but tavern culture stretches back much further. In the Middle Ages, the city's water was undrinkable, so thirst was primarily quenched with beer.

This guided tour takes you past a series of Copenhagen's historic taverns, which carry stories of the times they have survived and the people who visited them. Along the way, you will also hear about taverns that have long since disappeared.
