Nature's Craft: Weaving with Natural Fibres

Weaving rope, twine and baskets from natural fibres is one of humanity's oldest crafts. Across cultures and centuries, people have twisted and bound plant fibres from leaves, stems and bark - the materials their landscape offered.

The course begins with a short walk through the monastery grounds, where participants explore and gather plants such as linden, nettle and bulrush. You'll then learn methods for harvesting the plants and preparing the fibres. The craft itself involves twisting a two-ply rope or twine, and then learning the technique of loop binding so you can make a small bowl or basket.

Meeting point is the farmyard at Møllegården in front of the Mill Café. Tea, coffee and cake are served during the day; lunch is not included, so bring a packed lunch or buy at the café. Dress for the weather - the course takes place outdoors all day. No prior craft experience is necessary.
