Felt a Luna Bag — Hedestrik, Copenhagen

Wet felting is a craft process using water, soap, and carded wool. Over two days (10:00-16:00), you'll felt your own Luna bag around a mold and learn the fundamentals of wet felting, including carding techniques and the properties of different wool types.

On the first day, you card the wool, choose a piece of fleece (shorn wool from a whole sheep) for the front of the bag, and felt the handle. On the second day, you lay out wool for the bag itself and complete the felting - and add sailor rings to the handle if you wish. You may also have time to sew the handle on.

Hedestrik focuses on Nordic wool, which otherwise lies unused as a byproduct at Nordic sheep farms. The course includes knowledge about wool from a climate perspective and guidance on choosing wool types. Hedestrik works from a dogma-free and rule-free principle as a counterpoint to the commercial yarn and knitting world. Bring a packed lunch - there is a shared lunch break in the middle of the day.
