Dermersal & Wombscape

Demersal draws from hardcore, mathcore and post-rock, but stands apart through the use of piano, cello and trumpet - instruments that open up the soundscape and give it both warmth and sharpness. Four vocalists alternate between furious screams and quiet presence, and the multi-layered expression carries themes of anxiety, meaninglessness and care. The music insists on community and fragility as strength, not merely as an expression of pain.

Wombscape is a Tokyo-based band formed in 2010 that blends mathcore, chaotic hardcore and post-hardcore with elements of post-rock and emo. Their music alternates between irregular, chaotic structures and atmospheric passages, and their live shows incorporate visual elements. The band has played with names like Kayo Dot and The Secret and has participated in several Japan tours with foreign artists.
