Dinesen/Sanz Quartet — Gnisten Ry, Ry

Saxophonist and composer Jakob Dinesen meets acclaimed Spanish pianist Albert Sanz in a new quartet formation featuring bassist Felix Moseholm and drummer Martin Andersen. The ensemble performs original music written specifically for this band.

Dinesen has been a central figure on the Danish jazz scene for three decades, gaining international recognition through early albums with Paul Motian and Kurt Rosenwinkel. He recently won his fourth Danish Music Award for best jazz release in 2025 with the album Slow Flow. Sanz is regarded as one of Spain's most important pianists of his generation and previously worked regularly with American drummer Al Foster. On his latest album "Cuando recordar no pueda", Sanz collaborated with Andersen, and the two continue their partnership here. Sanz also performs as a vocalist during the concert.

Moseholm has quickly established himself as one of the most distinctive young voices in Danish jazz, touring internationally with the Brad Meldau Trio. Andersen performs with several ensembles including the New Jungle Orchestra and Carsten Dahl Trio, and has recorded and toured with artists such as James Blood Ulmer, Yusef Lateef, Ray Anderson, Dave Kikoski, Dado Moroni, Jesse van Ruller, Marco Mezquida, Kirk Knuffke, Enrico Rava, Kenny Werner, Caramelo de Cuba, Max Ionata, Antonio Sambrini, Tony Glausi, Fabrizio Bosso and Seamus Blake.

The venue offers a mix of standing and seated places on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have a disability and need assistance entering, you are welcome to contact Gnisten in advance.
