Vinterjazz 2027: Transatlantic Power Trio

Vinterjazz 2027 - Transatlantic Power Trio: Saturday 27 February 2027, 20:00–22:00, Gnisten Ry, Ry. Tickets cost 275 kr.

Jeff Ballard, Jesper Bodilsen, and Niclas Knudsen perform together as Transatlantic Power Trio at Gnisten in Ry. This is part of a Danish tour. The three musicians have strong international credentials and each brings a distinct voice.

Bodilsen and Knudsen have been central figures on the Danish and international jazz scene for decades, performing with many of jazz's greats. They have long wanted to collaborate with one of the world's finest drummers, and now it happens. The trio moves between catchy melodies and groove, silence and explosive energy. It is modern jazz without a safety net, with room for both power, depth, and the nerve of the moment.

The musicians:

Jeff Ballard - drums (US). Known from the Brad Mehldau Trio and collaborations with Chick Corea, Ray Charles, Pat Metheny, and Kurt Rosenwinkel, among others. He is considered one of the most influential drummers in modern jazz, playing with energy, openness, and risk-taking.

Jesper Bodilsen - double bass (DK). One of Denmark's most prominent jazz bassists. Has performed with Ed Thigpen, Joe Lovano, Stefano Bollani, Gregory Porter, Lionel Loueke, Phil Woods, Mark Turner, and Bill Frisell, among others. Known for his warm tone and melodic playing.

Niclas Knudsen - guitar (DK). A distinctive and innovative guitarist who has performed with Tom Jones, Billy Preston, and David Liebman. He has toured the world with Ibrahim Electric at major festivals and club venues. His playing bridges jazz, rock, and improvised music.

The concert is part of Vinterjazz 2027. Vinterjazz is a nationwide music festival held every year in February since 2001. It runs for three weeks and consists of around 600 concerts at more than 180 venues, from Skagen to Svaneke.

There are both standing and seated places, distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors to Gnisten open at 19:00. If you have a disability and need assistance entering, you can contact the venue in advance.
