Ars Nova Copenhagen is a Danish vocal ensemble based in Copenhagen, founded in 1979 by composer Bo Holten. The twelve-strong group specialises in Renaissance polyphony alongside newly commissioned vocal works, often collaborating closely with living composers. Since March 2024 it has been led by Swedish conductor Sofi Jeannin, its first female chief conductor, following Paul Hillier's two-decade tenure. The ensemble has toured more than 40 countries and won a US Grammy Award in 2010 for its recording of David Lang's 'The Little Match Girl Passion'.
Sofi Jeannin was appointed chief conductor of Ars Nova Copenhagen with immediate effect and is the first woman in the position.
The ensemble released three new album releases during 2025: music by Michael Gordon, Caroline Shaw and Huang Ruo.
The ensemble performed the concert 'A Meeting of Two Masters' at Garnisons Church in Copenhagen under the direction of Sofi Jeannin.
Ars Nova Copenhagen participates in Culture Night in Copenhagen with performances at Marmorkirken and concerts at Helsingør Cathedral and Trinitatis Church.
The ensemble, conducted by Sofi Jeannin, performs at L'Auditori in Barcelona with a program centered on female composers.
