Chief 1 is the stage name of Lars Pedersen (born 17 February 1970 in Tårnby, Copenhagen), who co-founded Denmark's first rap group, Rockers By Choice, in 1984 and has since built a parallel career as a producer and songwriter for artists ranging from Kim Larsen to Ricky Martin. His solo breakthrough came in 2019, driven by candid songs about depression and self-worth, and he has released three solo albums blending pop, soul and hip-hop.
