Christian Fennesz is an Austrian guitarist and electronic composer who has built a singular sound world since the mid-1990s by routing his guitar through a laptop and shaping it with granular synthesis and glitch processing. His album "Endless Summer" (2001) is widely regarded as one of the most influential works in 21st-century ambient and electronic music, and his debut "Hotel Paral.lel" (1997) won the Prix Ars Electronica. He has collaborated with Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Sylvian and Jim O'Rourke, among others, and his latest solo album "Mosaic" (2024) received universal critical acclaim.
Fennesz premiered a new work on February 6, 2026 in collaboration with composer and conductor Oscar Jockel and musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic and Karajan Academy as part of the Strom festival.
Fennesz performed live at St. James's Church in Piccadilly, London on April 11, 2025 - his first solo performance on the Bimhuis stage since 2014.
The solo album "Mosaic" was released on December 6, 2024 on Touch and received unanimous critical acclaim with a Metacritic score of 83/100.
