The Music Duel with Hammer & Cilius
Two prominent classical music personalities from DR compete in a musical duel where they each assemble an orchestra programme and the audience votes on the winner.
Frederik Cilius (born 1986 in Sønderborg) is a Danish satirist, actor and music presenter, trained as a classical clarinettist at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and Indiana University Bloomington. He is best known for creating the fictional senior correspondent Kirsten Birgit Schiøtz Kretz Hørsholm on the radio satire programme Den Korte Radioavis, which drew up to 100,000 daily listeners and reshaped political satire in Denmark. He has also appeared in the DR television series Orkestret and toured the country with philosopher Svend Brinkmann in the talk show Hvad er der galt?
Frederik Cilius performs in August 2026 at Copenhagen Opera Festival in Tivoli in an opera duel against Mathias Hammer, where the audience votes for the opera's greatest moments.
On his 40th birthday on 12 March 2026, Frederik Cilius confirmed that a third season of the DR series Orkestret is on the way.
The production Jeppe på Bjerget with Cilius in the title role at the Royal Theatre's Old Stage was sold out before the premiere and attracted 38,000 spectators.
Den Korte R8dioavis, the continuation of Den Korte Radioavis on R8dio, was suspended indefinitely at the beginning of 2024 in favor of new program concepts.
Cilius toured the country with philosopher Svend Brinkmann in the talk show Hvad er der galt? and the follow-up Hvad er der NU galt?
