Gabriel Coburger is a German saxophonist and composer born in 1967 near Hamburg, working across tenor and soprano saxophone and flute in the creative jazz tradition. He studied at the Hamburger Musikhochschule and spent formative years in New York on a DAAD scholarship, playing alongside Lee Konitz, Dewey Redman and others. He received the Hamburg Jazz Award in 2007 and the Ritter Prize in 2011, and teaches at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg while running the weekly FatJazz concert series.
Coburger released the album 'In a Scene from Sadness' with Bob Degen, Giorgi Kiknadze and John Schröder.
Coburger performed as a guest soloist on Bruce Barth's tour in Hamburg - with concerts at Birdland and JazzHall Hamburg.
