Grant-Lee Phillips (born Bryan G. Phillips, September 1, 1963, in Stockton, California) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who first came to prominence fronting the Americana trio Grant Lee Buffalo in the 1990s. The band's 1993 debut Fuzzy drew immediate critical acclaim - R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe called it the best album of the year - and Phillips was named Rolling Stone's Best Male Vocalist of 1994. Since going solo in 2000 he has released twelve studio albums and is also recognised for his recurring role as the town troubadour in the TV series Gilmore Girls. An enrolled citizen of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation, he is additionally a practising visual artist whose paintings regularly appear in his album artwork.
Grant-Lee Phillips released his 12th solo album In the Hour of Dust on September 5, 2025 via Yep Roc Records.
In connection with the album release, Phillips went on a 26-date tour in the USA and UK with subsequent European dates in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Finland.
Phillips announced European tour dates for autumn 2025 and the beginning of 2026, including dates in the UK and on the European continent.
The first single from the upcoming album, 'Closer Tonight', was released and is available on all digital platforms.
