Lucinda Williams (born January 26, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana) is an American singer-songwriter whose music moves freely between country, folk, blues, and rock. Her father was the poet Miller Williams, and that literary upbringing left a clear mark on her writing. The 1998 album "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" is widely regarded as an Americana masterpiece and earned her a Grammy - she has won three in total. TIME magazine named her America's best songwriter in 2002.
