About

Hiraes are a German melodic death metal band from Osnabrück, formed in 2020 when the four instrumentalists of the disbanded Dawn of Disease joined forces with vocalist Britta Görtz, previously of Critical Mess and Cripper. The band's name draws on the Welsh concept of 'hiraeth' - a bittersweet longing for places or a home that may never have existed. Their debut 'Solitary' arrived in 2021 on Napalm Records, followed by 'Dormant' in January 2024, mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios. Extensive European touring has established them as a formidable live act, with Görtz's versatile growls and screams at the centre of their sound.

Hiraes performed at the 70000 Tons of Metal festival in Miami in January 2026 and has subsequently announced European club shows in February and March 2026, including in Nürnberg and Kortrijk.

Hiraes performed at Summer Breeze Open Air in Dinkelsbühl in August 2025 as part of a busy festival summer.

In April 2025, Hiraes completed a Southeast Europe tour with stops in Bucharest, Sofia, Athens, Thessaloniki, Belgrade and Zagreb, among others.
