In Flames are a Swedish heavy metal band from Gothenburg, formed in 1990. They helped define the Gothenburg melodic death metal sound alongside At the Gates and Dark Tranquillity, with albums like "The Jester Race" and "Colony" becoming genre touchstones. Over the years the band shifted toward a more melodic, accessible metal style, and with fourteen studio albums behind them, vocalist Anders Fridén and guitarist Björn Gelotte remain the only members who have been with the band since the mid-1990s.
In Flames completed recording of their 15th studio album in March 2026 - produced by Howard Benson and recorded at Sunset Sound Recorders in Los Angeles.
In Flames announced in November 2025 a comprehensive European summer tour for 2026 with over 20 cities, including performances at Wacken Open Air and their own hometown festival Göteborg Brinner.
In Flames announced in May 2025 that drummer Tanner Wayne left the band after seven years - Jon Rice took over the position behind the drums from the same summer.
In Flames and Machine Head announced in November 2024 a joint North American tour for spring 2025 with Lacuna Coil and Unearth as support.
In Flames co-headlined the European "Rising from the North" tour with Arch Enemy and Soilwork from October to November 2024.
