Iben Hjejle is a Danish actress, trained at the Danish National School of Theatre (graduating 1996), who gained international recognition playing Laura opposite John Cusack in Stephen Frears' High Fidelity (2000) - a role that came after Frears spotted her at the Berlin International Film Festival. In Denmark she is known for the Dogme 95 film Mifune's Last Song (1999), the sitcom Klovn and the crime series Dicte, and in recent years she has returned to the stage with considerable acclaim, winning both the Reumert Award for Lead Actor of the Year and the Teaterpokal in 2024.
The production 'One More Day in God's Creation' from the Royal Theatre, starring Iben Hjejle in the lead role, is on a nationwide tour in 19 Danish cities from February to March 2026.
