Mike Stern (born 1953 in Boston) is an American jazz guitarist who first came to wide attention as part of Miles Davis's celebrated comeback band in the early 1980s. A Berklee College of Music alumnus, he went on to collaborate with Jaco Pastorius, Bob Berg and Michael Brecker before building a solo career spanning more than 20 albums. Guitar Player named him Best Jazz Guitarist of the Year in 1993, and he has earned six Grammy nominations across a career that moves fluidly between jazz, fusion, rock and blues.
