Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by William Shakespeare, written around 1598-99. Set in Messina, it follows two couples: the sharp-tongued sparring partners Beatrice and Benedick, and the more conventionally romantic Hero and Claudio. Its mix of wit, deception and mistaken identity has made it one of Shakespeare's most frequently performed plays.
