Sadness + support
Sadness is a blackgaze project by Mexican-American artist Damián Antón Ojeda, blending DSBM with shoegaze, post-metal, and emo influences.
Sadness is the solo project of Mexican-American multi-instrumentalist Damián Antón Ojeda, started in a Chicago suburb in 2014. The music blends blackgaze and depressive black metal (DSBM) with clear shoegaze and post-rock influences, and the project has racked up over 70 releases across a decade in the underground. Sadness didn't play live until 2024, but after Ojeda relocated to Baltimore in 2025 it grew from a bedroom studio project into a full live band.
Sadness released the album 'sunset blush' on August 20, 2026.
The album 'Spring 2025', recorded with a full band around Ojeda, came out in May 2026.
Sadness released the EP 'Shimmer' and simultaneously announced a west coast tour with Life and Dawn of Ouroboros.
Ojeda moved to Baltimore and formed a permanent live band around the project together with Billy Jarboe.
Sadness is confirmed to play at Roadburn Festival in Tilburg in April 2027.
