Shame are a British post-punk band from South London, formed in 2014 by five school friends fronted by Charlie Steen. They broke through with their debut album "Songs of Praise" (2018) and have since released three further records - "Drunk Tank Pink" (2021), "Food for Worms" (2023) and "Cutthroat" (2025) - all on Dead Oceans. Renowned for confrontational, high-energy live shows, they rank among the most prominent voices in contemporary British post-punk.
Shame performed at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton in May 2026 as part of their ongoing UK & EU Summer 2026 tour.
Shame released their fourth studio album "Cutthroat" on September 5, 2025 via Dead Oceans, produced by Grammy-winning John Congleton.
The band announced "Cutthroat" in June 2025 and held a sold-out preview of the album in its entirety at Brixton Jamm in London.
Shame announced a major European and British tour for autumn 2025, starting in Paris on September 28 and including stops in Antwerp, Cologne and Amsterdam.
"Food for Worms" debuted at number 21 on the British album chart and number 2 on the UK Independent Albums Chart upon its release in February 2023.
