Songhoy Blues brings dusty desert blues from Mali to Copenhagen, with shimmering guitar work and solidarity as its heartbeat.
Songhoy Blues are a Malian rock band from northern Mali, formed in Bamako by musicians who fled Timbuktu during the Islamist occupation of 2012. They fuse traditional Songhai music with blues and rock, driven by a strong current of political and human solidarity. Their 2015 debut "Music in Exile" - produced with Nick Zinner and featuring Damon Albarn - broke them internationally, and they have since released three more albums, most recently the acoustic "Héritage" (2025).
Songhoy Blues released their fourth studio album "Héritage" on January 17, 2025 - an acoustic album that returns to traditional Malian instruments and Songhai roots.
"Héritage" received broad recognition from the music press, including from Uncut and musicOMH, which highlighted the band's ability to maintain its power in a more subdued, acoustic format.
On "Héritage", Malian singer Rokia Koné appears as a guest vocalist on the track "Norou", which has been highlighted as one of the album's highlights.
The producer of "Héritage" is Paul Chandler, and the album was released via Transgressive Records.
